Hojsova guard Brčálník has its own railway station directly under the house, which offers great opportunities for trips not only to the surrounding area, both in summer and during the winter season. There is a family ski resort Brčálník right in the place, perfect for the first downhill attempts of your little ones, but children can ride sleighs or bobsleighs just as well. Within reach you have the ski & bike center Spicak, or the very popular German resort Velky Javor.
The legendary Devil's Lake of glacial origin lies on the southeastern slope of Jezerní hora, near Železná Ruda. It is the only one of the Šumava lakes to belong to the Danube basin. The water level is located at an altitude of 1030 m and the depth of the lake sometimes reaches 36 m.
One of the most beautiful views of the Šumava Mountains opens from the top of Pancíř 1214 m above sea level. In clear weather, there is an unforgettable view of the Alps.
With a height of 1,456 meters, the Great Maple (Großer Arber in German) is the highest mountain in the mountains on the border of Bohemia and Bavaria and is therefore also called the "King of the Bavarian Forest".
Prenet belongs to places with distant views. On the slope of this mountain stands the chapel of St. Kunhuta, which is the only one preserved from the former settlement. The chapel was built in 1408 by Bohuslav Racek from Janovice and a hermit lived there at one time.
The dam reservoir was built in 1969, by flooding the Úhlavské valley, and serves as a drinking water reservoir for Klatovy, Domažlice and Plzeň. The dam collects water from several streams, especially Úhlava, Svinský and Zelenský streams.
The smallest and highest lake, 1096 m above sea level, in the Czech part of the Šumava Mountains has been inaccessible to the public for a long time. It is all the more worth seeing this beautiful lake of glacial origin.
The largest natural lake in the Šumava and the Czech Republic, with an area of 18.4 ha, has a glacial origin and the greatest depth of up to 40.6 meters can also be measured here.
The cable car will take you from the Špičák Sports Complex to the top of Špičák (1202 m). It transports pedestrians and cyclists, paragliders and disabled tourists without any problems. Bicycle and pram transport is free here. In winter, the cable car only transports skiers and cross-country skiers.
